No-Mance Parties

This February we decided to celebrate the unromantic side of this romantic month by having a No-Mance Party.

It was come-and-go and we had plenty to entertain them.

First up was setting the scene.

In an effort to avoid the traditional decor we used a lot of black and any hearts were either covered in graffiti or dismembered. I sadly did not get a picture of the room or the event as we were just to busy playing along.

Next up-the ambience.

It became apparent that what we really needed to finish setting the scene was a stellar breakup/anti-love playlist.

Then we decided on refreshments. Admittedly, we did have some store-bought pink and red cupcakes, but it was because we had them leftover from a different program the day before. So we just grabbed other anti-pink stuff for them to put on top. We had other assorted candy and drinks too. But we also had a stinky chips taste test.

We got an assortment of unusual chips and let them try what they wanted to compare nasty results.

The final piece of the puzzle was the crafts.

We made pencil toppers and anti-valentines.

We had loads of craft supplies to also redesign covers of very cheesy romance novels. We just did color printouts, rather than find enough covers of recycled books to remove. We had paper hearts that they could decorate, fill with candy and staple together for hearts that could be given away that were meant to be destroyed.

All-in-all it was a super easy program that I'm sure will become a regular occurrence. After all

Or perhaps we will be less jaded and alternate it with a more traditional lovey-dovey program to reach our more hopeful crowd.

Either way, the month of February will surely continue to be entertaining.
