SLP 2021: Writing Club+ -- Mythological Creatures

Let's return to Writing Club for a moment and discuss a topic that I nearly forgot about. Mainly because it was meant to happen during last summer, but alas...

Mythological Creatures totally fit in this summer.

I'm thinking this will be a good chance for teens to either create new creatures or spin new tales for creatures of old. Mythological stories continue to be popular (thanks in large part to Rick Riordan and his new imprint from Disney-Hyperion) and there is no reason why we should not jump on the trend.

And, to not miss another obvious opportunity, let's chat about the crafting potential to go along with this.

First, and most obvious to me, is FrankenToys. There is so much potential to pair this with a writing challenge. But if in-house programs continue to elude us, let's talk about a couple other options.

Second is Sculpey. If it is within your budget to provide sculpey for teens to take home and create their own creatures (if you can swing it, provide paint for a follow-up program and give a boost to your program stats).

Third is to come up with an fully art-based craft. Is there a challenge to draw a creature in pencil, or crayon, or create it digitally? Loads of potential here.
